Living in the moment | Practice until succeed!

For people over 50 years old, Living in the moment is the key for a better life! With the practice of focusing your attention on the present moment and fully experiencing it without judgment or attachment to past or future thoughts. It involves being aware of your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surroundings in the present moment. It is not easy to achieve, it takes practice, and for some events thats happening, you will Forget about it! ( Thanks to Google ).

It is not very easy to accomplish! Some of you did it, others are working on it! For me it happens 5 years ago when I moved away from the city. Nature, mountains and the change of energy were the major factors for my brand new life!

Here are some tips to help you live in the moment:

  1. Practice mindfulness meditation: Set aside some time, 10,15, 20 minutes or more each day to practice meditation. Focus on your breath or use a guided meditation to help you bring your attention to the present moment. (Youtube here is your best friend! Click here for a good start!) This practice can help you develop awareness and cultivate mindfulness in your daily life.
  2. Engage your senses: Pay attention to the sensations you experience through your senses. Take a moment to truly see, hear, smell, taste, and touch what is happening around you. Engaging your senses can help anchor you in the present moment. Go outside if possible. Trees, flowers, grass and so on will be a great help. Barefoot if possible.
  3. Slow down: In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to rush through life without fully experiencing it. Slow down and take your time with daily activities. Whether it’s eating a meal, going for a walk, or having a conversation, give yourself permission to savor the experience.
  4. Let go of judgment: Practice accepting the present moment as it is without judgment. Avoid labeling experiences as good or bad, and instead, observe them with curiosity and openness. This mindset allows you to fully engage with the present moment without being caught up in evaluations or expectations.
  5. Minimize distractions: Reduce distractions that pull you away from the present moment. Put away your phone, turn off notifications, and create a space that promotes focus and presence. By eliminating unnecessary distractions, you can fully immerse yourself in the present.
  6. Practice gratitude: Cultivate an attitude of gratitude by focusing on the things you appreciate in your life. Take time each day to reflect on what you’re grateful for, whether it’s a beautiful sunset, a supportive friend, or a simple pleasure. This practice helps shift your attention to the present and fosters a sense of contentment.
  7. Be aware of your thoughts: Notice when your mind starts to wander into the past or future. Gently bring your attention back to the present moment without judgment. Remember, it’s normal for your mind to wander, but the key is to continually bring your focus back to the here and now.

Living in the moment takes practice ( I confirm!), but with time and patience, you can develop a greater sense of presence and appreciation for each moment of your life. It can lead to reduced stress, increased well-being, and a deeper connection to yourself and the world around you
